Yesterday morning we came in to find a dog tied up outside our shelter doors. He was shaking and trembling in fear, so terribly confused after being left there by his owner all alone on the street.
If you are a pet owner, please know that this is totally unacceptable. Not only have you abandoned your family member, leaving them terrified and confused, but you have now dumped this burden on us.
You do not have to witness the trauma that abandoned dogs go through when they are dumped at a shelter. We do. We have to comfort them, pick up the pieces and build their confidence again.
We are also short-staffed over Christmas, and now have extra work to do. Our shelter is full, and this has only added to the pressure.
When you adopt a pet, it is your responsibility to look after them. If you need help, please message us so that we can provide assistance. Tying them up outside our doors is not a solution. It is dangerous when we have sick and unvaccinated dogs at our shelter, and thieves on the street who could have so easily taken this sweet boy!!
Rest assured, we will love this boy more than his owners ever did, and hopefully soon he will find a brand new family who will never abandon him.
